Upcoming AKC All-Breed Dog Shows in Our Area
All breed AKC dog shows are a great place to see over 100 different breeds of purebred dogs and talk to their owners and sometimes, breeders.
The judging schedule is usually available 7-10 days before the actual show date and includes the specific judging time and ring number where each breed wlll be shown. Also, remember to get to the show site in plenty of time to park and find your ring(s). You will find breeders willing to visit with you and discuss their breed, but remember that they are there (at great expense!) to show their dog(s) and you should wait until they are not otherwise occupied to talk to them. If you have children, make sure to keep them from distracting the dogs before ring time; and always ask permission of the owner/handler before you approach a dog at a show.
Here is the process to follow to find out specific information about each of the upcoming shows. The primary superintendent area dog clubs use to manage their shows is Moss Bow-Foley, based in North Carolina. Enter their website address in your browser and go to their home page:
Click on the oval in the upper left side of the page: “Show Information”, then on that page, click on the oval at the top left of the page: “Show Calendar”. Scroll down that page to the section titled “Upcoming Shows”, find the date of the show you are interested in attending in the left column, then click the column to the right of that date titled “All Breed/Obed/Rally”.
Scroll down that page until you find the dog club that is putting on the show listed in the left column, and click on the club’s name. When the page for that show comes up., look for the links to downloadable documents on the left side of that page under “Show Info:” You’ll want the document called “Judging Program” which has the specific judging time and ring number where each breed wlll be shown in an alphabetical list on the first page.
There are also links to provide you driving directions to the show site on that same page.
